Those Dramm Scissors!

Order your Dramm Garden Scissors today, my fine friends…your customers are looking for them, and they will be DELIGHTED to see them right in their hometown store.  Why are they looking for them?  Well, much to OUR delight they were featured in the March 2009 issue of IN STYLE magazine (not sure if that really needs caps but it feels like it does).  Look for them on page 329.

AND Family Circle magazine will be featuring them in an upcoming issue, so the trend will continue.

We love magazine features (I know, I say that every time…I can’t help it, the writer in me ADORES being contacted by any print publication) and will always let you know what’s where so you don’t miss out on that sale…and the chances of the buyer who sought out that featured item picking up something else or telling a friend what a GREAT STORE you have because it is SO ON TREND…well, they’re pretty darn good odds!

We’ve been busy this month, which tells us most of you are doing okay and that folks are still shopping.  That’s fantastic, and we feel very blessed that you all keep ordering from us.  Anything we can do to help, let us know…we aim to please and want your sales on the rise despite this whole ‘economy’ thing.

In other news, we got six inches or so of fluffy white snow yesterday with the thermometer reading a balmy FIVE DEGREES.  I’m not sure I’m ever going to be warm again.  Spring now, please!

Hope all is well where you are!

Amy

Stock up on Flower Arranging stuff…we’re in Martha Stewart LIVING!

No matter how many times it happens, I still get all weak in the knees when I answer the phone and the person on the other end says ‘Hi, this is blah blah blah from Martha Stewart Living’.  Just thinking about it makes me all tingly!  Oh, I’m sorry…what were we talking about?  Right.  Flower arranging stuff.

On page 98 of the January 2009 issue, there it is: An Arranger’s Tool Kit.  Garden gloves, ties, tape, frogs, floral foam, shears, knives, floral scissors, stem strippers, flower picks, water picks, floral adhesive, flower food and chicken wire…we’ve got it all right here, and your customers will be looking for it in your store!

We’ll even send you out a custom assortment of stuff so you can make your own tool kit…pack it up and sell it as such with an SRP of right around $150.00.

Whether you love her or love to hate her, when Martha mentions something, people WANT IT and when they FIND IT they BUY IT.  You won’t even have to work to sell the stuff!

We always get excited when flower arranging comes ‘back around’.  It’s really how our business got started, and I often refer to our founder Dorothy Biddle as the Martha Stewart of the 1940′s…she lectured on flower arranging, table setting, home decor and much more.  Supplies are still hard to find, we hear, but we’ve got anything and everything to meet the needs of arrangers that walk through your shop door.  And our minimum is only $50, so you can easily give things a try.

I’ve got to get back to staring at the photo in MSL and smiling broadly…you go on ahead and phone, fax, email or order online.  Let us know if you have any questions, too.  We’re happy to help!

 Best,

Amy

DBS items featured in Better Homes & Gardens!

WOW!  Two of our items were highlighted in the July issue of Better Homes & Gardens magazine, so customers will be on the lookout for them when browsing in your shop.  The magazine sells around 7.6 million copies each month, so…WOW, again!

The Rose Stem Cleaner (item #441A06, on page 21 of the print catalog) and a pin-type flower holder (#110A12UNP, on page 14 of the print catalog) were shown “in use” and BOTH are easily displayed on your counter so readers of BH&G can see them easily.

A quick and simple idea for display the pin holder – just take a small container (maybe a votive or tea light candle holder?), add a flower holder and one stem of any flower that is handy…your customers can say “hey, I can do that!”.

Check out these two items, and the entire DBS product line on our website, www.dorothybiddle.com
